Teaching is not for the faint of heart!
You are willing to venture daily into the classroom and to do battle with the dragons of ignorance, intolerance and illiteracy and must be strong of heart, mind and body.
Your personal life is essential!
As a Super Teacher YOU must:
1. Know how to nurture yourself in big and small ways.
2. Find the work you love and understand your personality type.
3. Be financially healthy, you can not serve your students effectively if you are worried about money at home.
4. Be Spiritually strong.
5. Take care of your physical health.
6. Nuture personal relationships.
As you journey through the swamps and forests of ever changing challenges; curriculum, discipline, professional communication and accountability you must be prepared with the arsenal that will both protect you and guarantee your reaching the “prize” of successful and joyful teaching and learning.
KNOW THYSELF
1. Nurture yourself
As Marcus Aurelius has said, “there is a source strength” within yourself.
I want to encourage you to intentionally revive and renew that source of strength by finding the abundance within you by nurturing yourself.
Just the meaning of the word nurture helps us to understand the deliberate action that it takes to nurture oneself.
Nuture has two major definitions with many synonyms.
To Nurture:
1. to Cultivate: cultivate, cherish, develop, support, encourage,
2. to Care for: care for, look after, take care of, raise, rear, foster
